The sleek Galactica Super Nova, built by Heesen Yachts and captained by South African Chris Guy, was named finest new superyacht at the 2016 Monaco Yacht Show. It is easy to see why.
Hot on the heels of the multi-award-winning Heesen yacht the Galactica Star comes the new 70 m Galactica Super Nova, which is bigger, faster and even sleeker. It achieves a top speed of 30 knots (more than 55 km/h) in 75 seconds, said Captain Chris Guy in an interview with Boat International magazine after sailing her from the Heesen shipyard in Oss in the Netherlands to the Mediterranean. “The correct balance between speed and volume is what sets this yacht apart.”
The profile of the yacht was restyled by superyacht designer Espen Øino. When it comes to the interior design, the team at Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design in the Netherlands had lots of room to play. “It was the owner’s wish to create an easy-going beach club feel, so each space is connected in one cohesive style, but distinguished by subtle differences,” says designer Paul Costerus.
The yacht sleeps 12 in a master suite, VIP cabin and four double cabins. It has a 6 m-long infinity-style pool with a glass-panelled bottom, a nightclub area, and a galley and scullery bedecked in striking black granite and stainless steel. Then there’s the feature staircase, the stainless-steel-and-crystal elevator, 357 m2 of deck space…
