The design has been inspired by Swahili architecture and includes typical features such as decorative plaster finishes, timber carved doors, timber latticework balconies and timber window shutters. The orientation of all the buildings has been carefully considered to provide privacy and unobstructed views to the ocean and the tropical gardens. The interiors are modern with clean open plan living spaces flooded with natural light and ventilation, taking advantage of the sunny, breezy coastal climate. The environment key features have been incorporated into the development making it environmentally sensitive, these include: use of solar power, waste water purification and recycling, rain water harvesting and waste management systems. The holiday home concept offers the perfect retreat for family and friends with the comforts of home, while on holiday on a white sandy beach. The Penthouses

The penthouses on the top floor of each apartment block offer fantastic views to the ocean in the east and the Shimba Hills to the west.
These units offer exceptional spaces in every respect, with large open plan rooms, vast roof terraces that include a bar and jacuzzi.

The Villas

The entrance through a Lamu style carved door features a fountain with a rock garden against a coral clad wall with a decorative grille panel. The triple height space brings light and ventilation into the whole villa.

The living room is light and airy enclosed by windows and French doors that open onto a covered terrace overlooking a private landscaped garden.

The dining can be seen through an arched opening from the entrance hall. It offers a choice of dining spaces with an outdoor covered terrace, an indoor dining area for 8 and a breakfast counter.

The kitchen is semi open plan and has been designed with practicality in mind, offering a well laid out preparation space with granite worktops, custom made cabinets and ceramic tiling to the walls and floors. The sizeable Utility Room is fitted with sinks and plumbed for a washing machine with an adjacent area for drying laundry.

The bedrooms on the first floor are accessed from an elegant staircase rising through the triple height space. All three bedrooms are en suite with their own balconies, large windows and French doors with timber louvered shutters.

The design of the villas is simple and uncluttered to achieve a clean contemporary look enhanced by the use of natural light and natural cross ventilation. Finishes include granito floor tiles, ceramic wall tiles, timber framed windows and doors with terraces having a natural stone finish.

The Apartments

The apartments and penthouses are situated on the most elevated part of the property allowing the top units unrestricted views of the ocean while other units have views into the tropical landscaped gardens. The penthouses are exceptional spaces in every respect, with large open plan rooms and vast roof terraces offering fantastic views of the entire area.

The layout of all two and three bedroom apartments has been designed and oriented to take full advantage of the views with all living and bedroom spaces having large balconies, windows and sliding doors.

The Bungalows

The bungalows offer single story two and three bedroom accommodation, similar in plan to the apartments but in a lush tropical garden setting. The real charm of these detached units is that the living areas and bedrooms open onto large verandas that offer leafy and tranquil spaces for relaxation, as well as direct access to the gardens.

The design of the bungalows is similar in character to the other buildings. Swahili features combined with contemporary elements provide light and airy interiors finished with granito floor tiles, ceramic wall tiles and timber framed windows.

Management

Lantana Galu Beach is administered by a professional management company to ensure that the entire property is constantly maintained to the highest standards. This company is responsible for the up-keep and running of all the common areas, facilities and services. It also ensures that the exterior of all the buildings are maintained kept in good repair and painted.

Rental Programme: An optional professional rental programme has been created, generally to target short stay holiday lets, with the purpose of giving owners a potential rental revenue stream.

Location

Galu Beach, located approximately 5km south of Diani Beach on Kenya’s famous South Coast, is easily accessible by road and by commercial flights from Nairobi to Mombasa or direct flights to Ukunda (Diani) airstrip with Air Kenya / Safarilink. This stretch of beach sits away from the crowded Diani beach and prides itself as an unspoilt area, dotted by indigenous flora, close to the protected Kaya Kinondo Forest. This part of the Kenyan coast boasts numerous sporting activities and excursions, not to mention the proximity of marine parks and wildlife sanctuaries.

While located on a quiet, secluded part of the South Coast, Galu Beach is a convenient 10 minute drive from the main Diani shopping area, with supermarkets, banks, travel agents, restaurants and night clubs. This part of the coast boasts numerous excursions and sporting activities and is close to marine parks, wildlife sanctuaries and game parks.

Water Sports along the coast include: scuba diving, snorkelling, big game fishing, kite surfing, wind surfing, jet skiing and sailing.

Other sporting activities include: golf (18 hole par 72 course), sky diving, motor bike or bicycle rental.

Marine excursions include: dhow or glass bottom boat trips to the coral reef, big game fishing from Shimoni in the Pemba Channel, dolphin and sea turtle watching around Wasini Island within the Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Reserve. Other excursions include visits to Chale Island, Funzi Island and Msambweni.

Wildlife excursions are possible to the Shimba Hills National Reserve, the Sable Valley Sanctuary and the Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary. The South Coast is also home to the Wakuluzu Colobus Trust for the protection of the endangered Colobus monkey and offers a forest nature trail on its grounds.

Income Potential

You can, if you wish, participate in the Rental Scheme. Participating in the Rental Scheme is optional, and to date about 90% of the owners have placed their units in the rental scheme. We have invested and maintain a comprehensive management operation including: management systems, human resources and equipment that is required is similar to that of a fully fledged 240 bed resort. The fees charged for managing the rental scheme are based on a revenue share basis (as opposed to a cost plus model) which is basically 40% of the gross rent after taxes and levies, with the balance of the 60% paid to the owners.

Availability & Pricing

All the homes are being sold on a fully furnished and equipped basis. The prices therefore include all furnishings, electrical items, white goods, linen, cutlery and crockery. You are also acquiring a share in the land, all common buildings, plant and equipment, not to mention direct access to the 3rd top ranked beach in Africa.

If you are considering acquiring a holiday home at the coast, now would be a good time to act as such properties will only continue to increase in price and value, besides there is only limited beach available for such developments in the near future, this certainly applies to choice beaches such as Galu Beach which is definitely the best beach in Kenya.

Another key differentiation of Lantana Galu Beach is that the property is professionally managed by a dedicated team on site that ensures the buildings, common areas, gardens, swimming pools, gym, plant and equipment are constantly maintained to a very high standard.

The management company also manages a Rental Scheme whereby the owners can place their units under management to be rented out on a holiday short let basis to local and international tourists. The rental scheme provides all the hospitality services that are commonly found in an up-market resort, including:  rental management, check-in, housekeeping, guest room amenities, turn-down service, concierge services, linen laundry service, shuttle services etc. There are also “the back of house” functions, including marketing, reservations and accounting that are taken care of. To complement these services the company also offers and manages the beach front restaurant and bar, coffee bar, health and beauty studio, gym, business centre and convenience shop.
